Wood chip gasifier
A wood chip gasifier is a chemical reactor that converts wood or other biomass material into combustible gases that can be used for heating, cooking or to power internal combustion engines. The gasification process works by partially burning the biomass in a reactor and using the heat generated to break down the remaining material into volatile gases through pyrolysis or thermal decomposition. The operation of a wood chip gasifier involves feeding wood chips into the reactor from above, where they are converted through a co-current descending process in a fixed bed, with the resulting wood gas and char being removed from the bottom of the gasification reactor.
